Official factory opening in Bulgaria
with the ABB Promotion-Truck
On 18 June, ABB officially opened the new factory for the manufacture of low and medium voltage products in the presence of the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and other high-ranking representatives from politics and economics.
The ASJ/STOTZ promotion truck also came to the opening to present the portfolio of low and medium voltage products in a highly professional way.
The new production facility is situated in Rakovski, approx. 25 kilometres northeast from Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv and will generate around 600 jobs when operating at full capacity. ABB is investing $23 million to increase production volume and to meet growing demand in Europe and Asia.
“ABB’s latest investment here in Plovdiv confirms once again that the company is convinced of the importance of the production facility in Bulgaria and beliefs in the high potential of the employees” says Ekkehard Neureither, Country Manager of ABB in Bulgaria. ”At the same time, we are looking forward to bringing the latest technology know-how and new jobs into the country.”
The new site of about 15.000 square metres is the second major investment made by ABB in the region of Plovdiv. In 2009, the first “greenfield factory“ was built for the manufacture of low-voltage products and employs more than 1.000 people.
Further Bulgarian production sites are located in Petrich for low-voltage products, in Sevlievo for high-voltage products and transformers, as well as a turbocharger service station in Varna.
